“Left parties’ deviation from the real issues led to the Nandigram and Singur episodes,” said Debabrata Biswas, all-India general secretary of the Forward Bloc.

“West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee admitted his fault in the Nandigram and Singur issues, but who would bear the damages caused due to he mishandling of these affairs?” said Biswas, also a member of the Lok Sabha.

“The unilateralism of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), which leads the four-party combine, and main opposition parties’ negative politics have halted West Bengal’s industrialisation efforts.

“Failure in Nandigram and Singur has hit the Left parties’ movement for development,” he told journalists here.

Biswas was accompanied by West Bengal Agriculture Minister Naren Dey and West Bengal Relief and Agricultural Marketing Minister Murtaza Hussain on a two-day visit to attend the Forward Bloc state committee meeting, which began Sunday in North Tripura.
