Mild tremor in Maharashtra

Pune : Nanded district in Maharashtra experienced an earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale early Monday morning, weather officials said here.

The tremor was registered at 3.52 a.m., the Meteorological Department here said, adding that its epicentre was at latitude 19.6 degree North and longitude 77.4 degree East in Nanded district, about 400 km from here.

“The tremor was very weak and did not travel a long distance,” Pune Observatory director P.N Mohan told IANS.

Koyna, a seismic activity-prone region in the state, experienced tremors of magnitude 4.3 Nov 24.
