Kolkata : Arena Animation, a global leader in animation and multimedia training, has instituted the Golden Cursor Animation Awards in partnership with television channel CNBC-TV18.
“Indian animation industry has been witnessing tremendous growth in the last few years. It is poised to reach $1 billion in the next three years. The award was instituted to give recognition to creative professionals in the animation industry,” R. Krishnan, global head, Arena Animation, said.
The award will be given in 16 categories that include best animation film, best animation in a film, best animation ad, best student/amateur animation film, best new animation style, best animation public service ad, best animated character of the year, best animation-live action combo – TV commercial, best animation-live action combo – film, best title sequence – film or TV, best online animation sequence, best animated mobile content, best animation based TV channel and best animation game-online/educational.
The last date for submission of entries is Jan 15, 2008.
Only work of Indian origin, created either in English, Hindi or any Indian language, and released only to Indian audience between Jan 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007, can be submitted.

An eminent panel of jury will evaluate the nominations. The winners will be felicitated at a gala ceremony early next year.
