Raipur : Police arrested a 30-yr-old man in Chhattisgarh for brutally killing his father Wednesday morning following a dispute over a small ancestral plot.
The incident took place at Muhdabri village under Chhuaikhadan area police station in Rajnandgaon district, some 210 km west of state capital Raipur.
Police said Suraj, who wanted to sell his ancestral plot, had an altercation with his 50-yr-old father Dukaluram Tuesday. In the early hours Wednesday, the son, the youngest of three brothers, attacked his father repeatedly with an axe when the victim was sleeping.
“It was a cold-blooded murder as the father had axe injury marks all over the body and he succumbed to his injuries within half an hour,” local police station officer G.C. Pati told media persons.
“The accused Suraj tried to flee but the villagers caught him as his wife and mother cried to see Dukaluram writhing in a pool of blood,” he said.
After the initial interrogation, police said that Suraj wanted to sell a small plot though his father was pushing him to look for a job outside the state.
