Dubai : Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is the lone Indian batsman to feature in the top-10 list as he moved up to the seventh spot in the one-day rankings, released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) here Friday.
With 736 points in his kitty, Tendulkar shares the seventh place with South African opener Herschelle Gibbs in the list, which is still headed by Australia captain Ricky Ponting.
By virtue of two unbeaten centuries in the recently concluded Chappell-Hadlee series, Ponting has a career-best rating of 832 points and his 60 points clear of team mate Andrew Symonds (773) in second position, while English batsman Kevin Pietersen occupies the third spot with 748.
In the bowlers’ list, South African Shaun Pollock heads the chart with 863 points, followed by Kiwi Shane Bond (767) and Nathan Bracken of Australia (726).
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has dropped out of the top five, having gone wicketless in the series and Australia’s left-arm wrist spinner Brad Hogg has fallen four places to find himself out of top ten, while Shaun Tait has jumped up 11 places and is close to breaking into the top 30 for the first time in his career.
However, there were no changes in the top five all-rounders’ position, with Pollock, Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya and Englishman Andrew Flintoff occupying the first three places.
