Ahmedabad : Celebrations broke out at the headquarters of Gujarat’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here Sunday amid strong indications that it was headed to retaining power in the state.
Over 1,000 BJP supporters gathered outside the office shouting slogans hailing Chief Minister Narendra Modi, bursting firecrackers and distributing and consuming sweets.
In contrast, there was gloom in the Congress camp.
Political analysts said the BJP might end up with about 110 seats in the 182-member legislature. The BJP won 127 seats and the Congress 51 in the 2002 election.
