Bhubaneswar : The pilot of an Indian Air Force jet trainer had a narrow escape Saturday when the aircraft crashed while taking off at Bhubaneswar Airport.
According to official sources, the plane was one of the dozens of jet trainers flying from Kalaikunda airbase in West Bengal to Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.
The aircraft had landed at the airport for refuelling but it caught fire when it took off for its onward flight.
The pilot quickly ejected himself, the sources said.
