Baghdad : A suicide car bomb struck a security checkpoint in western Baghdad on Saturday afternoon, killing a soldier and wounding six people, an Interior Ministry source said.
“A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a checkpoint manned by Iraqi army and police forces in the Ghazaliyah neighborhood,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The attack resulted in the killing of a soldier, wounding two others, two policemen and two civilians, the source added.
Ghazaliyah, a Sunni neighborhood, has been relatively calm since the local anti-American insurgent groups converted to work with the U.S. and Iraqi troops in battling against the al-Qaida network fighters.
