France grants three-month residence extension for Dafur rebel Chief

Khartoum : The French government has renewed the residence permit of Darfur rebel leader Abdul Wahid Mohammed Al-Nour for three months.

French Foreign Ministry Spokesman Pascale Andreani told reporters in Paris Monday that the length of stay of Abdul Wahid Al-Nour, who has been in Paris for more than one year, had been extended by three months.

Andreani added that Al-Nour is supposed to respond positively to invitations to participate in peace negotiations in Darfur that would be addressed to him by the United Nations and the African Union.
