Kabul : The Afghan forces with support from the international troops based in Afghanistan’s Uruzgan province have killed nearly 150 Taliban insurgents, the Daily Outlook newspaper reported Wednesday.
“In the operation backed by the US-led coalition troops, launched against militants in Charchinu district in Uruzgan province early this week, 150 rebels have been killed so far,” the newspaper quoted a US military press release as saying.
The report said Doaab and Dosang in Charchinu district had been cleared of insurgents, while clashes are going on in adjoining areas.
Taliban militants have not made any comment so far. Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have claimed the lives of more than 6,000 people this year in Afghanistan.
