New Delhi : British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Delhi University in January during a special convocation. Brown is slated to arrive in Delhi on a state visit mid-January, his first to India since becoming prime minister.
According to university officials, the degree will be awarded in recognition of his public service and academic achievement.
Earlier Oct 11, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was conferred with an honorary doctorate from University of Cambridge. He had studied at St. John’s, Cambridge, as an undergraduate economics student.
Brown was a student of history in the Edinburgh University, where he completed his masters in 1972.
