Jammu : Asserting that the exiled Pandit community would be welcomed if they return back to Kashmir, hardliner separatist leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani today asked the community leaders not to rub salt on the wounds of Kashmiri people by indulging in mudslinging.

Addressing media persons in Jammu, winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the separatist leader said that safe zones and homeland was no solution for the exiled Kashmiri pandit community.

“They are welcome back to Kashmir”, he said adding, “They can come back and live as they were doing in past”.

However, he was of the opinion that some KP leaders were coming out with unnecessary and baseless statements every now and than. “I would request to my brethren that they should not rub salt on our wounds by indulging in mudslinging”, he said.

Referring to the ongoing dialogue process between India and Pakistan, Geelani said that the process would not yield any result until people of Jammu and Kashmir are taken into confidence.

Any decision between India and Pakistan is not acceptable to the people of the state, he said adding, it is the aspirations of common masses which have to be taken into account. “I can not comment on the reports about the possible agreement between the two countries and only thing I can say right now is that such a decision would not resolve the issue, unless people are taken into confidence”.

Reply to a media query, chairman of All Party Harriet Conference (G) said that elections are being fount in the state since long but the issue remained unsolved. “People participate and vote in the elections for development and it has nothing to do with their aspirations and resolution of Kashmir problem”.

“If government of India and Pakistan are serious about resolving the issue, it has to give a right of referendum to the subject of the state.
