Iran to help Turkey fight terrorism

Tehran : Iran is to help Turkey fight terrorism, Iranian Parliament ( Majlis ) Speaker Gholamali Haddad Adel said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Head of Foreign Relations Commission at Turkish Parliament Murat Mercan.

Haddad Adel expressed satisfaction with current security cooperation between the two countries.

He said Iran and Turkey, two neighbouring states with longstanding cultural and economic ties, enjoy excellent relations.

By adopting rational policy, the two countries leaders would guarantee such friendly ties, Haddad Adel said.

He said that Tehran and Ankara have developed political, economic, cultural and security cooperation calling for close parliamentary cooperation to help further deepen ties between the two nations.

High volume of trade between the two countries demonstrates a promising cooperation between Iran and Turkey, he pointed out.

He said that Iran and Turkey as two powerful countries in the region and in the Muslim world are accountable for the fate of Muslims of Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Iraq’s developments, he said presence of US troops in Iraq has given more impetus to terrorism in the country.

The Turkish envoy, for his part, said Turkey attaches importance to expansion of ties with Iran.

He called for expansion of cooperation between the two parliaments.

Turkish companies are ready to play an active role in Iran’s industrial projects, he underlined.

On developments in Iraq, he said Iran and Turkey have common stand on the issue and believe that insecurity in Iraq would harm regional nations.

He called for collective cooperation to restore peace and stability in the region.
