Australia take 179-run lead as Indian batting collapses

Melbourne : Australia were 32 for no loss in the second innings at stumps with an overall lead of 179 runs against India on the second day of the first Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here Thursday.

Openers Matthew Hayden was on 22 and Phil Jaques on 10 at the close of play. Earlier, Brett Lee and Stuart Clark picked up four wickets each to dismiss India for 196. Australia made 343 in the first innings.
