New Delhi : Buoyed by its victory in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to reschedule the dates and venue of its three-day national council and national executive meet – from a low-key event at the parliament annexe here to Bangalore.
The meeting was originally planned Jan 21-23 at the annexe and is now likely to be held Jan 27-29 in Bangalore, party sources indicated Thursday.
The BJP plans to make a final announcement about the change in dates and venue Friday afternoon, by which time results of the Himachal Pradesh assembly election it is hoping to win will be out.
According to a party leader, the Bangalore meet will mark the first national celebration of the return of the BJP to the centrestage of national politics – having won two states and hoping to form a government in Karnataka as well.
The rescheduled BJP meet is aimed at providing the necessary fillip to its election campaign with all the big party leaders addressing a public meeting in Bangalore on the occasion.
It would kick off the campaign in the state where assembly polls are expected in February-March, indicated party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.
The Karnataka assembly was dissolved Nov 28 after the fall of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led B.S. Yedyruappa government which failed to prove its majority on the floor of the house.
