Iran’s scientific advancement pride or Islamic World – Sheikh of Al-Azhar

Cairo : Grand Sheikh of Egypt’s Al-Az’har University Sheikh Muhammad al-Tantawi said here Wednesday Iran’s scientific advancement, particularly in nuclear field, are pride for Islamic World.

Sheikh Tantawi made the comment in a meeting with visiting representative of IRI Supreme Leader at Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani.

Elaborating on commonalities among Muslims of various Islamic schools of thought, he added, “Promoting solidarity among world Muslims is a dire need today.”

The Grand Sheikh of Al-Az’har said, “There are no important differences of opinion among the followers of major Islamic schools of thought, and the existing differences, too, are over issues of minute importance.”

Tantawi added, “The enemies of Islam and a bunch of ignorant people contribute to exaggeration over such differences.”

The IRI Supreme Leader’s representative at SNSC, too, presenting a report on regional developments, and particularly the latest status in occupied Iraq, said, “The disputes observed in Iraq today have by no means any roots in religion and should not be interpreted as differences between follower of Shi’a and Sunni schools.”

He added, “They actually are merely politically motivated and intrigued by the enemies of Islam in order to weaken the pillar of our divine common faith.”

Iran’s former top nuclear negotiator said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran in accordance with its fundamentals and the Islamic World ideals, has always been promoting Islamic unity and aimed at the prosperity and grandeur of the world Muslims, cooperating with leaders of all Islamic schools to meet such ends.”

Appreciating the role played by Al-Az’har University in Islamic world in contemporary history, Larijani said, “Al-Az’har’s intellectual and historic status is an asset for world Muslims that need to be facilitated effectively and maximally.”

Larijani arrived in Cairo on Monday night, aimed at visiting some of Egypt’s most important cultural and academic centers and meeting with Egyptian intellectuals and prominent university professors, as the representative of the IRI Supreme Leader at our country’s SNSC.
