Islamabad : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf Thursday appealed to the nation to remain peaceful in the hour of crisis “so that the evil designs of terrorists can be defeated,” state TV said.
Musharraf convened an emergency meeting of top government officials to review the situation after the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, state-run television reported.
Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bhutto, 54, was fatally shot by gunmen minutes after a suspected suicide bomber blew himself at her election rally, killing at least 30 people at the Liaquat Bagh park in Rawalpindi.
