Lucknow : A first information report (FIR) has been filed against controversial Uttar Pradesh politician Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya for giving a false address and not mentioning the criminal cases pending against him in an application for obtaining fire arms licenses.
Ashok Kumar Singh, the station house officer of Hajratganj here, Saturday night registered the case under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Raja Bahiya, an independent legislator from Kunda in Pratapgarh district.
After registering the case, the police cancelled the licences of rifle number 7,734 and SBBL gun number 7,783 and launched a hunt to recover the weapons.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating the issue of another licence to him, for a pistol no 7,065.
Raja Bhaiya, who is feared in Pratapgarh, served as minister of food and civil supplies in the government of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
It has been alleged in the FIR that Raja Bhaiya submitted a false address and concealed details of the criminal cases against him while seeking licenses of the weapons.
