The duo was brought by a special team of UP police, which arrived in Jammu late last evening, well informed sources told New Agency.

Sources claimed that Sajad Ahmed and Tariq Hussain alias Akhtar- who was picked from their home villages by police early this week for their alleged role in Gorakhpur blasts in May this year. – were shifted to UP in connection with the investigation of the case.

The UP police had earlier sought a transit remand of the accused, which was extended by the court today, sources said on the condition of anonymity.

However, on the other hand the family members of the accused claimed their wards to be innocent.

“My son is innocent and has nothing to do with any anti-national activity”, Ghulam Qadir Wai, father of Sajad, told News Agency of Kashmir. “The record of Darul-Uloom Deoband at Saharanpur (UP) is testimony of the fact that my son is innocent”, he said claiming, that his son was present in the Madrassa, where he was undergoing the course of Alimyat, at the time of the blast.

He said that Sajad was living earlier in Jammu and was priest of a local Masjid besides undergoing religious course in a local Madrassa.
