Iran wants to expand its ties with all countries in the region and hopes the cooperation among them would lead to fruitful results, Ahmedinejad said here Saturday at a meeting with visiting Omani Foreign Minister Yousuf Bin Al-Alawi Bin Abdullah, official IRNA news agency reported Sunday.

During the meeting, the Iranian president said the two countries’ intention to develop bilateral relations was very strong.

He said agreements between the two countries should be finalized promptly in different fields.

Referring to the common viewpoints between Tehran and Muscat on different issues, the Omani minister said, “Bilateral agreements should be executed and cooperation between Iran and Oman should expand more and more.”

Bin Al-Alawi said the Iranian president’s proposals made at the Doha meeting “must be taken into consideration.”

During the Gulf leaders’ summit in Doha, Qatar, early this month, Ahmadinejad called for increasing cooperation in economic and security fields, proposals that have been aired in the past but largely ignored by Gulf states.

He warned the Gulf leaders that any security problem in one country in the region would spill over to neighbouring states.
