Baghdad : US military has announced that the Iraqi air force has received an aircraft of high technical standards, on purpose to train some Iraqi pilots.
A US military statement said the plane, a Beechcraft King Air 350, was among other planes included in a purchase deal struck between some foreign military companies and the Iraqi government.
The plane, was not carrying any spy equipment, according to the statement, but was only used for transporting small shipments, important personalities as well as training Iraqi pilots on how to use such type of planes.
Commander of the Iraqi air force, Lt. Gen. Kamal Mustafa, said ” this plane is very good and is capable of several missions, moreover, it was prepared four months ago, before the rest of the planes arrive, so that the pilots would be trained well”.
He added ” when the other planes arrive, the Iraqi pilots will be ready for combat operations”, noting that the trainings are due to take place in Kirkuk air base and are to start from Dec 29 2007 and will finish three months and a half later.
