Gaza : Rival Palestinian movements, Hamas and Fatah and Hamas, clashed in southern Gaza Strip on Monday night, killing two Palestinians and wounding some 20 others, medical sources said.
Two were killed and 20 wounded as hundreds of President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah movement supporters clashed with Hamas police in southern Gaza Strip, said the sources.
Medics at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis confirmed that two Hamas police men were shot dead by unknown militants. Hamas police accused Fatah militants for killing them.
Witnesses said that Hamas security forced prevented Fatah supporters in the Gaza Strip from celebrating the 43-year-anniversary for their movement’s founding.
Thousands of Fatah supporters took to the streets on Monday night, chanting slogans and waving the yellow flags of their movement, they said, adding that Hamas police officers opened fire and beat up dozens of them.
Medics said that seven people were shot and 15 people were injured after they were beaten up by Hamas police forces in Khan Younis city.
