Metro work would go on: court

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS) Delhi High Court Monday refused to grant relief to residents seeking stay of metro expansion works in Delhi.

“Let the Metro work continue in full swing,” a bench comprising Justice H.R. Malhotra and Justice P.K. Bhasin said while posting the matter for Jan 2.

The bench was hearing two separate petitions filed by East End Apartment Co-operative Society and Greater Kailash Resident Welfare Association of South Delhi who contended that the Metro’s construction work was causing problems to the residents.

Greater Kailash Residents Welfare Association allege that DMRC’s hasty work had disrupted water supply in their colony.

“The action of Delhi Metro has caused irreparable damage, injury and irreversible loss to the citizens and recently the water supply to several parts of South Delhi was affected,” the petitioner’s counsel A.S. Chandhok said.
