Colombo : The Commanders of the three forces predicted that the coming year would be decisive in the elimination of terrorism from Sri Lanka since the troops were already marching ahead to accomplish their goals in confidence and determination to safeguard the nation.
Already the numerical strength of the Tigers on land has been drastically reduced and their naval strength crushed by a superior Sri Lankan Naval Force.
The East has been almost completely liberated and normal administration is speedily being established.
Army Commander Sarath Fonseka remarked that it would soon be a case of hunting down the terrorists in the jungles and that Prabhakaran not being able to play his game of hide and seek for too long.
With the Air Force doing an aerial survey of all the probable hideouts and the army launching offensives against set targets on the ground it would soon be a case of combing the Wanni to clear it of Tiger groups.
Air-Force Commander, Roshan Gunatilleke also expressed his confidence in a complete wipe out of terrorism from the country in the coming year.
Meanwhile Navy Commander, Wasantha Karannagoda remarked that they have shocked the LTTE by destroying their ships and boats, weakening their Sea Tiger front.
The LTTE also faces the difficulty of obtaining of arms and ammunition in the way they used to and is compelled to depend on what comes to them across the ‘Palk Strait’ particularly from Tamil Nadu.
