“I want to clear some rumours emerging in the media. There was some report in the media that the team management and the coach were upset with one of the players. This is not true,” Chauhan told reporters after arriving here.

The team manager added that there was a discussion regarding the team’s dismal performance in the first Test in Melbourne, where India lost by a huge margin of 337 runs, but no finger was pointed at any player.

“The entire team is responsible for the performance, however it was. But we will bounce back. Also I would like to clear the report that we have asked for a replacement. It is not true,” Chauhan said.

The team manager was responding to reports in Australian newspaper The Age, which quoted interim coach Lalchand Rajput as saying: “Yes, there’s a problem with Yuvraj’s attitude. We will have to have a one-on-one with him in Sydney.”

Chauhan added that the team was aware of the challenges in front after a disappointing performance in the first Test match.

“Unfortunately the Indian team which had toured Australia in the past has never done well in the first Test match. Even when I came in 1980-81 we lost the first Test and subsequently recovered and equalised the series.”

He promised that the Indian team would bounce back in the second Test match starting here Wednesday.
