Guatemala City : South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun has arrived in Guatemala City to bid for the city of Pyeongchang for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Hyun, who arrived late Saturday, became the first head of state among the bidding nations to arrive here ahead of an International Olympic Committee meeting to choose a host city for the 2014 Games.
The South Korean city of Pyeongchang has made a transition from underdog to favourite to host the 2014 Winter Olympics against Sochi, Russia, and Salzburg, Austria.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer are also due in Guatemala City before the vote and announcement Wednesday by IOC chief Jacques Rogge.
