Lima : At least 24 people were killed and 21 injured when a truck collided with a bus in dense fog in Peru's northern La Libertad region, police said.
The accident occurred at about 4.30 a.m. (0930 GMT) Sunday at kilometre 651 of the Panamericana Norte highway near the city of San Pedro de Lloc, capital of Pacasmayo province, Spanish news agency EFE said.
Preliminary reports said poor visibility in dense fog in the area caused the head-on collision, with the dump truck cutting into the lane the bus was travelling in.
On Saturday, fog caused several accidents in the Andean province of Cuzco and in the northern province of Tumbes, near the border with Ecuador killing at least 12 people.
