Havana : Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque Wednesday met Indian parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi during his visit to the Island.
The Cuban minister and visiting lawmaker discussed bilateral ties and work accomplished by the Indian delegation during its stay in Cuba.
Gandhi, who arrived here Sunday, also discussed the fight against the AIDS and programmes implemented in Cuba to treat and prevent the pandemic.
Indian Ambassador to Cuba Mitra Vasisht and foreign ministry Asian affairs director Alberto Blanco also attended the meeting.
Gandhi was earlier welcomed by Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon and Public Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer.
Cuba and India first established diplomatic relations in 1960, when Rahul Gandhi's great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru was the prime minister of India.
