Iranian, Saudi FMs discuss mutual ties, mideast developments

Tehran : Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Saudi counterpart Saud al-Faisal discussed here mutual ties and the latest developments in Palestine and Lebanon.

Mottaki pointed in the talks Wednesday to the difficult situation of the oppressed Palestinian people and urged Islamic and Arab states to make all-out efforts to ease the Palestinians' sufferings and lift the oppressive siege imposed on the nation.

The two sides stressed that holding direct talks between different Palestinian groups would be the best solution to the ongoing political differences in the country.

The Iranian and Saudi ministers also exchanged views on the latest stance of different Lebanese groups and their mediatory efforts to settle the differences.

They agreed to continue their efforts and contacts to find appropriate solutions to the political crisis in Lebanon.

On Tehran-Riyadh ties, Mottaki and al-Faisal stressed the importance of further activating the two countries' political and economic sectors.
