Islamabad : Head of the Lal Masjid, Maulana Abdul Aziz, who was arrested on Wednesday, was produced in an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, a TV channel reported.
Maulana Abdul Aziz was shown on the state-run television in an interview while wearing the same 'Burqa' in which he came out with a group of Jamia Hafsa female students and tried to escape last night.
The police produced Maulana Abdul Aziz in the court of Judge Sakhi Muhamamd Kahut to seek his physical custody for questioning.
Maulana Abdul Aziz is facing seven cases including charges of terrorism, possessing illegal and kidnapping.
Security was tight around the court and the police beat cameramen and photographers who were outside the court for coverage.
Maulana Abdul Aziz was wanted by the police in several cases for three years and had been inside since then.
