Muslim students to get Rs 10,000

Patna: The Nitish Government of Bihar has made a decision to give 10,000 rupees to each Muslim student of Bihar who comes first in the annual examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board,Patna in the continuing year of 2007.

5,427 Muslim students have passed with first division this year. Arshad Kareem must be extremely proud of his daughter, Zartab Arshad who attends the Dr NCS Girls High School in
Arah, for she is the first Muslim to take home top marks in the BSEB. Zartab scored a more than decent 431 marks out of 500.

Second topper is Irshad Alam, son of Md Farooque, who has secured 427 marks. He is from S.R. High School in Arariya. Akram Basheer, with 424 marks is the third topper of the Board from Government High School in Motihari.

The Department of minority welfares has written a letter to the state Government asking to give the same amount to those Muslim students who have passed with first division from CBSE and ICSE boards.

The department has also sent a letter to these boards to provide a list of all those Muslim students who have passed with first division this year.

Sources say that the amount will be given by the Government after preparing full details of the students. Upon receiving the prize money, it will be sent to all students at the address they had provided when filling out the examination form.

In case of no address, the prize money of that particular student will be sent to his school.
