Gandhinagar : Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), a Gujarat government undertaking engaged in energy exploration and development, has succeeded in striking oil in Olpad and Cambay Field in the state.
The oil was found at a depth of 2,479 metres in Miroli 1 under NELP-IV Block CB-ONN 2002-03, a state government release announced here Sunday.
It said the Director General of Hydrocarbons had endorsed the discovery and congratulated GSPC for the success, saying it had opened the account of discoveries within NELP-IV Round of Blocks offered by the central government.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the firm for the achievement.
GSPC, along with its partners including Jubilant, Geo Global Resources and Prize Petroleum had started drilling in 12 wells in the first phase, and struck oil in Miroli 1.
