New Delhi : President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Sunday condoled the death of former prime minister Chandra Shekhar saying the country had lost a personality who contributed to nation building.
In a letter to Pankaj Singh, son of the late leader, the president said Chandra Shekhar was a "veteran parliamentarian, secularist and socialist known for his conviction to the principles he believed in".
"His services to the nation as prime minister, member of parliament and as an administrator will always be remembered. In his passing away the country has lost a personality who contributed to nation building," Kalam noted.
