Google is currently the biggest search engine on the web, and considering the speeds at which it has grown beyond just that, we can very well predict a future world wide web that will be dominated by this ever growing giant.
From its point of conception in the year 1998, Google Inc. has made leaps and bounds to bring the internet experience simple and approachable for the average user. Under and among its wide umbrella of technologies, the company holds widely used programs such as Google AdSense, GoogleDesktop, GooglePack, GoogleEarth and of course google.com which houses its search engine where you can find just about anything you want. The entire list of programs or technologies owned and or produced by Google can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Google_products .
These programs have definitely made lives easier, Google AdSense allows small companies to advertise their products at affordable costs literally all over the world. The best thing about this technology is that the advertisements will appear on pages that are related to the product being advertised. This is an ingenious idea since visitors to the webpage will more than likely be interested in the advertisement and will more often than not click on the ad.
With one Googleplex in California and another that just recently sprouted up on the East Coast, Google Inc has provided almost 8,000 people with jobs in America, and over 10,000 world wide. Of these 10,000, many are employed at the India Online Sales and Operations centers in Hyderabad and Delhi. This is definitely considered a major achievement and also seen as the re-birth of the internet after the dotcom disaster.
We must consider though, what the Google dominated future may hold. Do we really want to let a monopolization occur yet again, as in the Microsoft dominant days? Although, the advent of Google Inc. did bring about healthy competition in the internet world, which in turn was great for the American economy, the path that Google is taking does seem to spell danger.
Even though Google right now seems to be the answer to all our troubles, there could be a definite back lash in the future, because of the immense monopoly they have over the net. So many rely on Google’s programs, such as Google ads, that if there were to be a downfall, or if Google were to cancel these ads, the companies using the program will have no recourse. Since, at this point, there are no competing services that exist. The solution to this is that other companies have to jump in with their inventions soon to keep things flowing at a steady level and to provide healthy competition for Google. This will not only be great for online users, but for the American economy as well.
Google Inc. continues to grow, with its purchase of FeedBurner and DoubleClick and d Google shares continue to rise and about to be 550 dollars a share. Act fast oh ye in the internet business!
