Bharati Shipyard in $43.40 mn deal with Norwegian firm

New Delhi : Bharati Shipyard Ltd. (BSL), one of India's leading private sector shipyards, has bagged a $43.40 million deal from Norwegian firm Sea Cargo Skips AS to design and construct two vessels.

These vessels are meant to operate between various ports of Scandinavian countries and Britain.

"The order reflects our unique expertise in building eco-friendly vessels and the high confidence that we at BSL enjoy from our global customers. Our total order book now stands at Rs.3,900 crores (Rs.39 billion), comprising 43 vessels," P.C. Kapoor, managing director of BSL, said in a statement Monday.

BSL owns three shipyards, which are strategically located at Ghodbunder and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra and Kolkata. It is in the process of building a greenfield shipyard at Mangalore with a capacity nearly four times higher than the existing yards.
