New Delhi : The government-run Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL) Tuesday signed a 15-year deal with Apollo Tyres for a steam conversion project based on Waste Heat Recovery system from GAIL's gas turbines.
The first-of-its-kind project will be implemented by GAIL at its Vaghodia Compressor Station near Vadodara in Gujarat for supply of steam to Apollo Tyres within 24 months at a cost of around Rs.350 million. The annual contracted quantity is 436,800 MT.
"The project is going to be a new chapter and a good beginning for not only GAIL but also India. The public-private participation has been initiated for combating hazardous effects of greenhouse gases," U.D. Choubey, chairman and managing director, GAIL said in a statement.
