Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu) : The third edition of the $1,75,000 Sunfeast Open tournament in Kolkata in September would be "bigger and better", tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi said Tuesday.
The Women's Tennis Association-accredited Tier III tournament will be played Sep 17-23.
"Sunfeast Open 2007 will be bigger and better this year. We are confident this tournament will attract the best tennis players from across the world to put together some scintillating tennis action for the many tennis fans in Kolkata and rest of India," said Bhupathi, managing director of tournament organisers Globosport.
Bhupathi also played beach tennis with young squash champions Trisha Krishnan and Dipika Pallikal at the Fortune Chariot Beach Resort here as the first of several promotional activities for the event.
"The Sunfeast Open Beach Tennis game is one of the several unique promotional events conceptualised to enhance the popularity of the tournament this year," said Ravi Naware, divisional chief executive of main sponsor ITC Foods Ltd.
"This year again we aim to enhance the involvement of children and audiences with this tournament through several such initiatives spread across the country."
