Srinagar : At least nine people, including two women, went missing after the boat they were in capsized in Jhelum river in north Kashmir's Baramulla district late Wednesday.
The boat, believed to be carrying 13 passengers, was returning to Ladoora village from nearby Zuhama in the evening when it capsized.
Four people were rescued by police and fire services personnel.
"We have sought the help of naval divers to help in rescue efforts," Sheikh Junaid, additional superintendent of police Baramulla, told IANS by phone.
Anxious relatives have crowded the spot. Rescue workers are finding it difficult to find any survivors as darkness has enveloped the area.
"Hope is fast fading as it is difficult to search for any survivors in pitch darkness," an official said.
