Patna : Police opened fire to scatter an angry crowd that blocked roads and torched a mini bus after it lost control and ran over two children here Thursday, police said.
Police are yet to identify the victims but said they belong to the same family and are both boys – one a six-year-old, and the other seven years old.
“The six-year-old boy died on the spot while the other succumbed to his injuries in a hospital,” police said.
The mini-bus was reported to have been speeding when it lost control and mowed the children down.
Enraged, locals blocked roads to protest the accident at Gulzarbagh, throwing stones on the bus before setting it on fire.
According to police, the crowd also severely beat up a cleaner of the mini bus but the driver managed to escape.
Police opened fire to disperse the mob in which a man was injured. He was admitted to a local hospital.
