Jerusalem : An Israeli soldier was killed and two were lightly wounded Thursday during clashes with Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, the army said.
The Israeli troops entered the central Gaza Strip to "counter terror activities", a military spokeswoman said, adding that the soldiers found militants approaching them and exchanged fire.
The forces were still in the Gaza area to carry out the operation, the spokeswoman said.
The wounded soldiers were evacuated to Soroka Medical Centre in Be'er Sheva.
Meanwhile, a Ha'aretz report said that a bomb, which exploded near the soldiers in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, caused the casualties.
