New Delhi : Manpreet Kaur Friday heaved the four-kilogram shot 13.56 metres to became the first Indian girl to enter the final of a field event at the World Youth Athletics Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Manpreet, one of world’s top 10 youth shot putters, reached 12.96 metres on her first attempt, the Athletics Federation of India said in a statement here.
The second attempt of 13.56 metres was sufficient to book a place in the final.
M.R. Poovamma had entered the finals of the girls’ 400 metresfinal Thursday.
