Sitaula told reporters here that if the armed groups did not start talks within the given period, the government would dispatch security forces against them, nepalnews.com reported.

The minister named two factions of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), the Jaya Krishna Goit and Jwala Singh factions, against which the government may take action after the deadline, the website said.

The JTMM is a splinter group of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). It has been demanding a separate state in south Nepal’s Terai region.
