In a bid to compete with other big hotels in the private sector, the state government issued these instructions Saturday, to change the working style and etiquette of the staff employed in the state owned circuit houses.

The employees have been directed to behave politely and sport a smiling face.

Defying the instructions could lead to disciplinary action by the concerned authorities.

The orders are effective for all the circuit houses in the 32 districts of the state along with the Rajasthan house, state guesthouse, Jodhpur house and Bikaner house in Delhi.

“Officials of the circuit houses would now have to work under the new corporate culture implemented by the state government. The step has been taken considering the increasing competition from private players,” Kanak Mal Katara, Rajasthan’s minister for general administration told IANS here.

The step has been taken as the circuit houses and the state run guesthouses were losing business due to various factors including the behaviour of employees.

“It is the right step, though late, but it is always better late then never”, Navendu Goswami, a travel agent said.
