Raipur : As many as 23 members of the Chhattisgarh's opposition Congress party were suspended from the state assembly Thursday, the concluding day of the monsoon session, after they rushed to the speaker's podium pressing a demand to probe the death of three school kids.
The slogan-shouting Congress members trooped into the well of the house and sought an order from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for a thorough judicial probe into the death of three tribal students in Durg district July 8 in a suspected case of food poisoning.
The three kids, below 14 years, were among 40 students of a boarding school in Padamnabhpur village, run by a private organisation under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
The assembly began the monsoon session July 9 and was adjourned sine die Thursday.
