Kuala Lumpur : Malaysia and Pakistan Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance co-operation in the tourism industry.
Tourism Ministry Secretary-General Dr Victor Wee signed the MoU with his Pakistani counterpart, Shahid Rafi.
Dr Wee told reporters later that Malaysia would benefit from the co-operation by having more tourist arrivals from Pakistan and the possibility of tapping investment potential in Pakistan's tourism sector.
A total of 20,882 Pakistanis visited Malaysia in the first six months of this year compared with 20,708 in the corresponding period last year, he said.
He attributed the increase to promotional drive carried out by the Tourism Ministry.
Dr Wee said both countries could collaborate in research and development, training, promotion, publicity and investment in the tourism industry.Â
