Srinagar : Srinagar was rocked by six powerful grenade explosions late Friday, including one in the tourist hub of Dalgate area, leaving three people injured.
Police said militants hurled a powerful hand grenade inside the parking lot in Dalgate. "Three people were injured in the explosion," a senior police official told IANS.
The militants carried out five more grenade attacks in Batmallo, Nehru Park and Narbal areas of Jammu and Kashmir summer capital Srinagar.
"However, no one was injured in these explosions," the officer said.
The explosions led to panic in the city and the authorities ordered a security beef up.All passing vehicles were being checked and passers-by frisked.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the serial explosions.
In the afternoon, one person was injured when militants tossed a grenade at a paramilitary force bunker near the state assembly complex in the heart of the city.
The grenade was hurled at a Central Reserve Police Force bunker on the Hari Singh High Street. A bystander was injured in the blast.
"The injured has been taken to hospital," a senior police official said.
Security is tight around the assembly, which is in session.
