Three arrested for smuggling cows in Jharkhand

Ranchi : Jharkhand police Friday arrested three people allegedly involved in the smuggling of cows from the state's East Singhbhum district to Bangladesh.

Police officials said they seized three trucks carrying cows early Friday morning near Haldi Pokar locality of East Singhbhum district, about 160 km from here. The truck drivers were arrested and are being interrogated.

According to the police, 75 cows were crammed into the three trucks. They were being taken to Bangladesh through West Bengal.

"We are interrogating the truck drivers and trying to find all the people involved in the smuggling of cows," a police official said.
