The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) said it would bring leading businessmen from across India to the state in September to "play golf in Srinagar to convince capital creators in other parts that Jammu and Kashmir now provides investment opportunities", said a release of Assocham.

The delegation will be led by Assocham president Venugopal N. Dhoot who also heads the Videocon Group.

State Tourism Minister Dillawar Mir said he was looking forward to the visit of the Assocham delegation. "We are happy that the people across the country have rediscovered the business and tourism potential of our state."

The industrialists will play golf at the Royal Springs Golf Course in the foothills of Zabarvan hills. The course has become a major attraction for golfers from the world over. Its undulating landscape overlooking the shimmering waters of Dal Lake is a major tourist attraction.

"The objective of playing golf in Kashmir is to show to the rest of the world that since the state is fast returning to normalcy, it is expected to attract over a million tourists in the current fiscal itself after a gap of many years," the release quoted Dhoot as saying.

He quoted Assocham's preliminarily findings on "Vision Paper on J&K", which says that the state's export turnover in handicrafts, sports and leather goods and other goods is likely to exceed over Rs.15 billion in fiscal 2007-08 compared to Rs.11.50 billion the previous year.

The Vision Paper, being given final touches, also unveils that in the last fiscal, about 600,000 tourists visited Kashmir Valley.
