Washington : US President George W. Bush was back in charge Saturday after handing the US chief executive's powers to Vice President Dick Cheney as he underwent a two-hour colonoscopy at Camp David.
Bush had a full anaesthetic for the examination at the presidential retreat for what was a second colonoscopy following one in 2002 to check for colorectal cancer.
Doctors removed five small and harmless polyps in the latest examination, media reports said.
He already had several polyps – which can be a precursor to cancer – removed before he became president in 2001. None were found in the 2002 examination.
