Bhubaneswar : The Orissa government Saturday enhanced the cash reward for a couple performing inter-caste marriage from Rs.10,000 to Rs.50,000.
The decision was taken in the meeting of the Orissa Scheduled Caste Welfare Advisory Board chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here, a member of the board told IANS.
The enhanced reward will be given to the couples from the current financial year, he said.
"We hope with the hike of the reward, the number of inter-caste marriages will also increase," he said.
